This morning I finished stitching all of the pieces for the miniature chair I am making. As promised, here is a photo of all of the pieces together. Now, to begin piecing the chair together. Wish me luck!
I will post a photo of the chair once finished. I have also just added two new items to our shop inspired by the little picture I designed for the back of this chair. You may find these patterns here.

Once the final side is done, I will work on the back, which is the last piece to do. Along with working on the stitching for the chair, I have also been very busy photographing and uploading more products into our store. To help me with this endeavour, I built a small photography box out of white foam core. I found an adhesive LED strip that I could attach to the inside top of the box and cut a small rectangular hole in the top to allow my phone's camera to see through to the item. The front is also open so that I can take a photo of something standing. On the whole, it has worked well but the light was not white enough. I added another light on top and this seems to have helped quite a bit. I am currently taking new photos every day to add to the shop, so check back often as the inventory increases. At the moment I am adding dollhouse placemats.
Greetings all! I hope you all had a good summer (or winter, depending on your location). I spent many a happy hour outside gardening, going for long walks and generally enjoying the great outdoors. Now, as the weather is changing, I am turning my thoughts towards the indoor activities I love so much in the winter. Exciting News! This past two weeks I have been busy with opening our online store located on this site. We now have our own domain - doublethefuncrafts.com - and we are excited to be moving forward. Over the next few months we will be paring down the number of items showing for sale in our Etsy shop and showing all of them here instead. All patterns shown for sale here are actual printed patterns and includes our entire inventory. The Etsy shop will be used to sell all of our items needing to be shipped by tracked package and all digital items. (This is to allow us to be compliant with world tax rules that are evolving all the time.) Our bestselling patterns will still be there on an ongoing basis, but the majority of the patterns will only be visible here. Never fear, if it is a digital pattern you require, we will be happy to create a customized listing for you in our Etsy shop. Once I get them uploaded, you will see a much larger inventory of our dollhouse Placemats than have ever been seen in our Etsy shop. You can browse our new shop Here. Current stitching project: Although not something related to our shop, I am currently stitching a petit point dollhouse chair in the Bargello style of stitching. I have the inside back, seat and both inside arms completed and am working on the outside left arm of the chair. Once that is finished, I only have the chair back and the right outside arm to complete. The chair is one I had already and didn't like the fabric so I gently took it apart (using short bursts of time in the microwave to melt the glue) and am using the fabric as templates for my own stitched pieces. I traced all of the pieces onto one large piece of 48 count gauze, making sure I left enough space for the extra fabric needed to glue it onto my chair pieces. It has been quite a learning experience so far and I look forward to putting it all onto my chair when I am finished stitching. This chair will be going into a Santa's Cottage that I am slowly working on. Here is a teaser photograph of some of my stitching so far...
Looking forward to my next Project:
Since I am already working on the chair for my Santa's Cottage, I have decided to stitch my Christmas rug next. I will be starting it soon since my chair is almost finished. I always find that when I am near completion of one project, I start thinking of the next and can't wait to start. I have to be very disciplined with this or I would have a ton of unfinished projects to my name!! Talk to you again soon... This past week, I tried my hand at making some mini slippers. This is the first time I have ever made any and they are of my own design. They are stitched on 40 count silk gauze and are approximately 1" long. They are a little long for 1/12 scale but were a good size to get the basics down about how to make them. I think I will stitch the next pair on 48 count gauze and see how that works. In order to put them together, I used a tutorial I found on Natalia Frank's Blog found Here . I had some difficulty making the soles and hope to get better over time. I suspect that I made the toe section a bit too narrow. If I had made them a bit wider, the overall length would have been a bit shorter. However, I had a lot of fun designing and making them and hope I will get better with the next attempt. 🙂
Last week I spent some time designing this beautiful little silhouette. I liked her so much, I couldn't wait to stitch her! I began the stitching yesterday and it took about 2 hours to complete her. I then rooted around in my stash of frames to choose something suitable. I found this wonderful little wooden frame and made sure the background stitches would fit within the circle of the frame. I was able to get her framed quite quickly and this is the result. Lots of fun!
