dollhouse on display at the show. She placed my rug in her house and kindly allowed me to take a photo of it in it's new home. The colors matched her house so well! The picture on the right below shows my rug in her wonderful dollhouse.
I was also happy to meet Roxanne, one of the contestants on the first season of the Best in Miniature Show and discover that we will both be going to Guild School in Castine, Maine next June. We both are looking forward to that adventure very much and it was nice to meet someone who I will recognize next year amongst the people attending.

space for one more pillow around the outside of my Christmas rug then will switch to designing a small purse or two before removing the gauze from the frame and blocking everything. At that time I will find out if I have enough gauze to finish the rug and the pillows. If I do not have enough to stitch the pillows and only the edge on the rug, I will sacrifice the pillows or possibly make a little frame for them and mount them as wall hangings. When it is time to finish the rug, I will take photos of each stage and post them on this blog to show you how I did everything. Fingers crossed that my plans work!
I thought today I would do a little post regarding the M.E.T. Show that my daughter and I will be selling at. Below is the official flyer for the show and I am very excited that I may be able to meet some of the contestants of the Best in Miniature show! Like many of you who were able to watch it, I thoroughly enjoyed the show and eagerly awaited each episode.
If you haven't seen it, the show is a Canadian Miniature competition show and may be found on CBC Gem. Come on out and say "hello" to us and possibly meet Michael Lambie or one of the 3 contestants attending. The big push is now on and we have entered the final 2 weeks before the Miniature Enthusiasts of Toronto show. I have been hard at work making room screen kits such as the one below along with little crocheted pillows, miniature book kits and petit point pillows. The video I uploaded on the bottom right shows but a small portion of the making process of my screen kits. After the precise cutting is done, I begin the sanding and assembling of each kit. As the nails are too long I must cut each one in half before using them to attach to the hinges. I use three different grits of sandpaper when sanding in order to give the screen a very smooth finish that will be ready for you to paint, stain or varnish as you choose. Generally, it takes me 2-3 days to make one screen kit.
My daughter Heather will be joining me at the show and we are getting quite excited. I hope to meet lots of people there and look forwards to making a few more things before the show happens on October 15th.
I am also making some room screens in preparation for the MET show I will be attending on October 15th. Lots to keep me busy!
don't have to worry about how neat the back is. If I pull out some stitching and it looks terrible on the back - no worries, no one will ever see it!
Little pillows stitch up so quickly that they can be a great project when you don't wish to tackle a full rug. This one is being stitched on 48 count gauze. Some may not like how the white on the motifs blend in with the green background on this one so another color from the rug can be substituted very easily. This has been noted in the rug chart.
stitch it. I also have to check my stash of silk gauze to see that I have enough to do the rug. If not, it gives me time to order more and it will arrive before I am ready to use it.
