More about our Oriental Room Screen kit:
This adorable little 1/12th scale room screen will be handmade especially for you by Yvette when ordered. Once cut out, it is meticulously hand-sanded and prepared with the hinges applied. The tiny metal hinges are very delicate so take care when handling. It is unfinished to allow you to choose the finish you would like to apply. It will be cut from solid Basswood or Cherry with a recess in the center suitable for inserting a petit point project or your favorite fabric or artwork. *PLEASE NOTE* - THESE SCREENS ARE MINIATURE, NOT LIFE-SIZED. THEY ARE INTENDED FOR COLLECTORS AND ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN.
Overall screen measurements when flat:
If you are choosing to paint your screen, I recommend you purchase the Basswood version. Basswood is perfect for miniatures as the grain does not show much and stains or paints well, but if you are looking for a higher-end version, the Cherry is for you. The Cherry version sands much smoother than the basswood initially, but the basswood can be sanded again after painting to remove any slight "fuzziness" of the wood before applying your last coat of paint. The Cherry version will be cut from Quarter-sawn Cherry in order to have the smallest grain possible and more fitting to a 1/12th scale item.
Please note: The basswood version of the screen shown in the first listing photo is my prototype and the bottom detail in the middle section broke when I was sanding it. That screen is not for sale and yours, when made, would have the full bottom detail as shown in the fourth listing photo which is of a Cherry screen I made for a customer.

I do not currently have an Oriental room screen made that I could add a picture to for the purpose of the photos, so I have included an image of the picture that you could order. The picture that may be ordered with the screen is a Royalty-free image that will be custom printed onto a thin white fabric then meticulously wrapped around Acid-free cardstock in order to show a progression from one panel to the next. Each is attached to the cardstock shapes with Acid-free glue, then backed with Acid-free double-sided tape to mount to the screen panels. There is a watermark on the picture that will not appear in the finished product.

- Screens are all cut from approximately 1/8" (3.8 mm) thick wood. Please allow for slight differences in measurements due to fit of hinges or sanding of item.
- As these screens are made of wood, there may be slight color differences between the photos and the screen you receive.

- When choosing the Basswood option, the picture will be ready to mount onto your screen once you have applied the stain or varnish you desire. Each section of the picture will have little loops of thread inserted between the tape and the backing paper so that you may pull off the backing paper easily. The last photo in the listing shows the loops - Simply peel the loops down towards the back of the picture to remove the backing paper, then position your picture into the correct section of the screen and press firmly to mount. Each section of the picture will be inserted into the screen section so that you know which part goes where. I recommend that you remove them carefully using the loops and place them on a flat surface in order, so that you can replace them into the same section.
- When choosing the Cherry option, your screen will be oiled and polished with your picture mounted in the screen.
If you order the screen without the picture:
Your screen will come as a kit, assembled with the hinges, along with the following:
- cut-to-fit Acid-Free thick paper inserts for you to form your fabric around and insert into your screen
- comprehensive written and photo instructions for placing your fabric or artwork onto the insert and into the recess of the screen. (I will include two sets of inserts in case you make a mistake with the first set).
