This week I finished sewing my little Ruby-green pillow together. Pattern for this pillow may be found here: Ruby-Green. You may recall that this pillow was the one that had the least space between the edge of the pillow and the edge of the Christmas rug. I am happy to say my experiment worked beautifully and I now know that I can stitch small projects that close to the edge of a rug if I have some extra gauze. It is not for the faint-hearted though because there were very few rows that I had available to work with. It all paid off though because the little pillow went together very easily and I was able to get some great photos with which to write my tutorial. The tutorial will be coming soon and will be found in my Tutorial section. For now, I am just happy that it worked and I am now going back to stitching my Katrianna rug...

remove everything from the frame and begin blocking. At the moment I am itching to begin my next petit point rug but am restraining myself until I can begin blocking this set of projects. That way I won't be delaying finishing this one in favor of beginning another. Until next time, happy stitching!
space for one more pillow around the outside of my Christmas rug then will switch to designing a small purse or two before removing the gauze from the frame and blocking everything. At that time I will find out if I have enough gauze to finish the rug and the pillows. If I do not have enough to stitch the pillows and only the edge on the rug, I will sacrifice the pillows or possibly make a little frame for them and mount them as wall hangings. When it is time to finish the rug, I will take photos of each stage and post them on this blog to show you how I did everything. Fingers crossed that my plans work!
I am also making some room screens in preparation for the MET show I will be attending on October 15th. Lots to keep me busy!
don't have to worry about how neat the back is. If I pull out some stitching and it looks terrible on the back - no worries, no one will ever see it!
Little pillows stitch up so quickly that they can be a great project when you don't wish to tackle a full rug. This one is being stitched on 48 count gauze. Some may not like how the white on the motifs blend in with the green background on this one so another color from the rug can be substituted very easily. This has been noted in the rug chart.
