A frustrating week

It has been a very frustrating week for me, through no fault but my own.  As I was working on the red inner border going up the left side, I discovered that I had done half of the outer border wrong!  I had forgotten to check the pattern and failed to realize that the pattern flipped at the center and went up the rest of the side in the opposite direction than the bottom half.  As you can see from last week's post, I had virtually finished the left outer border so had a lot to unpick. ☹️

It took me almost the entire week to carefully unpick the top half of the border but eventually managed it, as seen in the large photo.  Once I had unpicked it, there were a lot of little fuzzy bits left in the gauze that I was having difficulty removing.  I decided to use a bit of tape wrapped around my fingers and came away with quite a bit of fuzz. Now, the area is nice and clean for me to see my stitches well and not have any shadows of colors that shouldn't be there.

Above left, you can see the section of the outer border in my pattern where the pattern reverses itself.  This is a lesson to me to "never assume I know what the pattern is going to be" and to "always look at each pattern page".  A lesson hard learned and hopefully, never forgotten.

The above right photo is of the fuzz removed from the gauze.  It is amazing how much the tape picked up!

Hopefully, this is the end of my stitching mistakes for this rug and I can continue to see the rug grow instead of stalling like this week.  Fingers crossed! ​🤞
